Bereavement Matters
We understand the challenges of coping with loss and offer a range of services to those who wish to receive them.
At Residential Hospice, our support of our patient families doesn’t end when their loved one dies.
Bereavement is a journey through grief after the loss of a loved one. Bereavement support is offered at no cost to families and caregivers. Residential Hospice’s trained staff is ready to provide support on your path of healing.
Bereavement Resources
Passages Newsletters
Passages is the name of newsletters we send to those grieving the death of a Residential Hospice patient. The newsletters are designed to guide the family on their journey, as well as inform them of resources, events, and activities that may be of help. When a patient dies, we send a newsletter after one month, three months and twelve months, and we also have a special issue addressing how to manage the holidays as a bereaved person.
Blue Elephant Project
The Blue Elephant Project provides tools to help children 3-11 who are impacted by the death of a loved one to express how they are feeling. Materials include a blue elephant plushie, 18 “feelings” cards and a pamphlet explaining the materials. An adult guide is included so a parent or guardian can understand how to help.
Grief Support Groups
To assist those grieving the loss of a loved one, Residential Hospice hosts four virtual groups as well as in-person meetings in some areas. Groups are free to all who have experienced a significant loss of a loved one, whether or not that loved one was on our service.
